What is NIDU?

Moving in accordance with the IT policy to harness the potential of Information Technology as a key contributor to development of Pakistan, Ministry of IT and Telecom has started the NIDU, National IT and Development Unit, project. With an objective to seek out areas of key importance and to devise policies and guidelines for the better use of IT, distinctive people from different walks of life like Public Sector, Private Sector, Academia, Law etc. have been gathered under the umbrella of NIDU

What is scope of NIDU?

The aim of this project is to create a, ”Think Tank” to advise, research and analyze the issues having relevance for the realization of goals set in the National IT Policy and IT Action Plan.

What are the major functions of NIDU?

Major functions of the Unit are to:

  1. Arrange sessions with the experts of the relevant IT disciplines to analyze and collect ideas on the assigned issues
  2. Identify experts from the public and private sector so that their expertise can be used to address national issues relating to IT. These experts would be organized into working groups so that they can come up with concept papers, recommendations or outlines of project proposals.
  3. Organize seminars on clearly defined issues. Invite papers from experts to be presented in the seminar. Divide participants into syndicates in order to facilitate formulation of findings and recommendations. This will be followed by discussion & analysis in the general assembly. Each seminar to conclude with a report including all findings & recommendations. Such reports will be submitted by NITPRU to the Government
  4. Engage consultants where required on contract to handle major issues which need critical consultation and inputs for decision making. The assignment of the consultant will be clearly defined in advance along with all other conditions of the contract.
  5. Give suggestions and recommendations to the executing agencies of IT projects in various domains. Based on this PC-Is can be prepared
  6. Assist the IT & T Division and other government bodies in identification and materialization of IT related initiatives and IT projects within specific areas.

What is working group?

The main purpose of this project is to meet National expertise and use them for the development and promotion of ICT in various spheres. The purpose will be achieved by forming working groups in selective areas and these shall assist the government towards success of IT Program

What are the types of working group?

There will be four types of working group i.e.

  1. Content Development
  2. E-commerce
  3. IT Law
  4. IT Security

What are the objectives of content development working group?

Major objectives of the content development working group are:

  1. Identify Impediments
  2. Development of local and National language content
  3. Increased access
  4. Proposals for the way forward

What are the objectives of e-commerce working group?

Major objectives of the e-commerce working group are:

  1. Issues pertaining to growth of e-Commerce in Pakistan
  2. To provide a vision,
  3. Strategic plans
  4. Concrete project proposals and way forward

What are the objectives of IT-law working group?

Major objectives of the IT-law working group are:

  1. Identification of Laws
  2. Development of Laws
  3. Suggest amendments in Existing Laws

What are the objectives of IT security working group?

Major objectives of the IT security working group are:

  1. Discuss and identify Security impediments
  2. Provide a vision, strategic plans and project proposals
  3. Implementation of secure IT infrastructure in Pakistan

How can I join a working group?

You can simply join working group by creating a log in account with discussion forum. After creating login you will log into the forum and can post your ideas & opinion on the forum.

How can we become the permanent members of a working group?

You will have to send request by filling our contact us form describing your expertise and areas. After this request, committee will review your request and let you know your state.

How can I initiate a topic in discussion forum?

If you want to initiate a topic in discussion forum, you will have to send a request by filling contact us form containing topic, introduction, reasoning, ideas, and views to fulfill your request. Your topic will be initiated after some necessary actions.

How can I give general suggestions or feed back?

If you have general suggestions or feed back to enhance the services of NIDU website, you can send your comments through feed back form.

Will NIDU pay any stipend on my efforts?

NIDU encourages volunteer personals, who are willing to work for the country with no personal interest. NIDU does not pay any stipend to general working group members.
